Our educational approach

Start your child's learning journey today.

At Kids' Early Learning, our programs are designed to support every child as a capable, confident, and active learner.

We are a Child Safe Organisation where children come first, always. Their safety, well-being, and rights are of paramount importance and underpin every decision we make, every environment we create, and every experience we provide.

We take a holistic, child-centered approach, where each child’s strengths, interests, and developmental needs guide their learning journey across both our Centre-Based and Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services. Our young learners are supported through an Individual Learning Plan, developed in partnership with families and reviewed regularly to ensure ongoing growth and development. Our school-aged learners are supported through programs which provide a welcoming environment where children can relax, play, and engage in meaningful experiences, with a strong focus on choice, agency, and wellbeing.

Our programs are guided by nationally recognised frameworks, including the Early Years Learning Framework and My Time, Our Place for School Age Care. Through play-based learning and recreational experiences, children are supported to develop a strong sense of identity, wellbeing, and confidence. We place a strong emphasis on building communication skills, fostering independence, and supporting children to feel connected to their community.

We recognise that children learn best when they are actively engaged and have opportunities to make choices. Children’s voices are central to our programs, and educators work collaboratively with them to plan experiences, activities, and projects based on their interests, strengths, and emerging needs.

Our approach to school readiness goes beyond academic preparation

We focus on supporting the whole child, recognising that social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and communication skills are equally important. These capabilities are developed through play-based learning, daily routines, positive relationships, group experiences, and intentional teaching opportunities, helping children build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. Our focus is on creating safe, inclusive, and engaging environments where every child feels valued, respected, and supported. By providing these strong foundations, we support children to transition successfully to school and continue to thrive throughout their educational journey.

Families are encouraged to attend orientation visits to learn more about our programs and how we support each child’s unique pathway.

Our community partnerships

Children enrich their learning through the environments they are in, meaningful relationships, engaging experiences, and the vibrant communities that surround them. We believe it is important to foster and value strong partnerships with local community services and organisations, because these relationships create intentional experiences that extend beyond the classroom and help children feel further connected to the world around them.

Our partnerships span across local schools, health professionals and therapists, cultural organisations, local businesses and community services, with learning opportunities experienced through in-service activities, excursions and collaborative programs. Not only do these pathways support children’s learning and wellbeing, they also help families connect with valuable community resources and support that strengthen inclusive practices across our services.

STaR Specialist Teaching

Our long-term collaboration with STaR and their early childhood specialist educators has provided our services with specialist guidance and practical strategies to support children with developmental concerns, delays, or disability - equipping our teams with the tools to help every child feel confident, included and ready to learn.

Through our partnership with STaR's Early Years Program, we have:

  • Supported children with disability or developmental delay to engage and learn meaningfully within our services
  • Supported educators to collaboratively develop individual learning plans reflecting each child’s strengths, family priorities, the Early Years Learning Framework, NDIS goals and allied health recommendations
  • Provided coaching, mentoring and ongoing professional learning for our educators.
  • Provided additional support to the families of these children, including individualised guidance and support as their children transition from our services to school.

The program is free for our children and families at Kids' Early Learning.

Munch and Move

Munch & Move is an evidence-based initiative developed by NSW Health to support early childhood education and care services in promoting healthy eating and active lifestyles for children.

Research shows that healthy habits developed in the early years can have a lasting impact on a child’s wellbeing, growth and development. According to NSW Health, regular physical activity and healthy eating in early childhood help support healthy brain development, emotional wellbeing, motor skills and lifelong health outcomes.

At Kids’ Early Learning, Munch & Move is embedded into everyday experiences through active play, movement-based learning, nutritious meals provided at our long day care centres, parent resources and tips and positive conversations around healthy choices. We are dedicated to helping children build strong foundations for lifelong wellbeing.

Dalmarri

Our long-term collaboration with Dalmarri has allowed us to embed enriching, engaging and meaningful shared experiences that strengthen children’s understanding and connection to Country.

Trevor Eastwood and Jason Douglas have delivered cultural immersion programs across our long day care, family day care and outside school hours care services, as well as professional development workshops for children, educators and families alike. Through storytelling, art, music, cooking, planting and hands-on cultural experiences, participants are encouraged to learn, reflect and engage in meaningful ways.

These shared experiences help foster inclusion, respect and a stronger sense of belonging within our learning communities, while supporting our ongoing commitment to culturally responsive practices across Kids’ Early Learning.

Blacktown City Council

Children at Kids' Early Learning benefit from meaningful partnerships and access to Council resources that enrich learning beyond the classroom. Through excursions and collaborative programs, children develop real-world knowledge, build community connections and engage with the people and places that shape the city they call home.

Some of these experiences include:

  • Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) - Learning about responsible pet ownership, animal welfare and pet safety.
  • Blacktown Aquatic Centre - Water safety education through engaging programs with Pip the Penguin.
  • FOGO team - Interactive recycling workshops and rubbish truck demonstrations that encourage children to care for the environment.
  • Events Team - Opportunities to attend family-friendly community events and children's concerts, including performances by Peppa Pig and Dorothy the Dinosaur.
  • Blacktown City Libraries - Mobile library visits and excursions to local libraries that foster a love of reading, storytelling and lifelong learning.
  • Blacktown Arts - Participation in initiatives such as the Blacktown City Young Artist Prize, encouraging creativity and artistic expression.
  • Community Leaders and Civic Engagement - Visits from the Mayor, Councillors and other community leaders help children develop a sense of belonging and connection to their local community while celebrating important milestones and achievements.

These partnerships are just one of the many ways we connect children with authentic learning experiences, helping them develop confidence, curiosity and a strong sense of community from an early age.

Intergenerational learning

Through partnerships with local retirement villages and aged care communities at Uniting and Hardy Aged Care, children have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with older generations while learning the value of kindness, empathy and community.

Together with their educators, children bake homemade treats, write heartfelt letters, create gifts and cards, and share songs, dance and creative activities with residents. These experiences encourage children to invest their time in bringing happiness and connection to others, while creating meaningful moments that are treasured across generations.

Frontline services

Our partnerships with local emergency services provide children with exciting and meaningful opportunities to learn from the people who help keep our community safe. Through incursions and site visits with NSW Police, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance and other frontline emergency services, children explore emergency vehicles and equipment, learn about personal safety, and engage directly with community heroes. These real-world experiences build confidence, encourage curiosity and help children develop a deeper understanding of the important roles these professionals play within our community.

Strong school partnerships

Our partnerships with local public schools help create a smooth and confident transition to kindergarten. Through regular visits, buddy programs and shared learning experiences, children become familiar with their future school environment, educators and routines, helping to build confidence and reduce anxiety before their first day.

These relationships also create valuable opportunities for collaboration between our educators and local schools through professional development and the sharing of best practice. Families are supported through parent information sessions and school transition evenings, ensuring everyone feels informed and prepared for this exciting milestone. By working closely with our local schools, we help children develop a sense of belonging long before they step into the classroom, making the transition to "big school" a positive and meaningful experience.
